Geography and Population

Allied Health Professionals with Western Health provide a broad range of health, rehabilitation and community services to the 82,000 people residing in the western region of the island of Newfoundland. Approximately 3,000 staff are employed by 20 community-based offices, 22 medical clinics and 9 health facilities that extend from Port aux Basques southeast to Francois, northwest to Bartlett’s Harbour, and on the eastern boundary north to Jackson’s Arm.

The city of Corner Brook, the largest centre in the western area, is nestled among the Long Range Mountains. In addition to exceptional ski facilities, the area also offers a variety of snowmobile trails, as well as world-renowned salmon fishing, hunting, mountain biking and camping.  Culturally, the area is alive with ballet companies, comedians, theatrical productions and musical artists.
