James Paton Memorial Health Centre

Description

The James Paton Memorial Hospital serves a catchment population of 53,000 for primary care and 117,000 for specialty services in Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology. It serves the East side of the new Central Region in the provision of 24-hour emergency service and specialty programs in General Surgery; Internal Medicine; Paediatrics; Obstetrics; Ophthalmology; Radiology; Pathology; and Anaesthesia, with a broad spectrum of infrastructural support services.  The most recent program to be established was Dialysis.  The Orthopaedic service provides care for the whole new integrated Central region.  There are 45 physicians with regular privileges at James Paton and visiting specialties in Oncology; Nephrology; and Rheumatology.  A branch of the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment & Research Foundation provides Oncology services to our region.
