Description:

Definition of work: The clinical associate will report to the Chief of Psychiatry and the Chief of Family Medicine, and as directed, work collaboratively with psychiatry, family physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team. The clinical associate will work in the capacity of a rural general practitioner servicing patients with mental illnesses, both acute and chronic in nature. The scope of practice will be of a general practitioner. Clinical work duties will include: ? Working in multiple settings of James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, including the psychiatry outpatient clinic, the emergency department and the inpatient floors of the hospital. ? Independent clinical duties will include primary care mental health services and primary care services to patients receiving psychiatric services ? Collaborative clinical care duties in a shared care model with psychiatrists will include assisting psychiatrists for new psychiatric assessments and follow up of patients receiving psychiatric care. These collaborative activities will be done with the support of a psychiatrist onsite or by telehealth. ? Up to one day per week work may be spent providing family medicine services outside the psychiatry program area. ? The successful physician must be willing to work in a team-based, client-focused environment, and partner with all team members to improve employee and patient safety by integrating safe work practices, identifying risk and implementing improvements when required.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Eligible for registration and licensure as a General Practitioner with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador

Specialized training in psychotherapy and/or experience with psychiatric populations will be desirable

Satisfy credentialing requirements of Central Health

A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.

A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority

Remuneration:

Salary: $158,922-$189,243 annually
