Eastern Health, the largest integrated Health Authority in Newfoundland and Labrador has an exciting career opportunity available for an Anesthetist in Carbonear, Newfoundland.

The Carbonear General Hospital has 70 acute care beds. Services include; Anesthesia, Chemotherapy, Family Practice, General Surgery, Gynecology, Obstetrics, ICU, Internal Medicine, Laboratory, Palliative Care, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Pathology, Ultrasonography and 24-hour Emergency (Category A).  Visiting specialties; include, Audiology, Urology, and Opthamology. 

Carbonear General Hospital’s Anesthesia Department is comprised of a total of three full-time General Anesthesist who are accountable for the provision of comprehensive health care services to patients receiving care.

The general accountabilities of the position include: functioning within the scope of practice of an Anesthetist. Providing individualized direct and indirect patient care to patients. Providing Anesthesia services within the scope of practice including consultations, pre-anesthesia assessment clinics, coverage to obstetrical patients, provision of a pain service, and on-call coverage for urgent and emergency procedures requiring anesthesia services.

 

Qualifications:

Interested applicants must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador. Information about the CPSNL can be obtained at http://www.cpsnl.ca. The successful applicant must satisfy credentialing requirements of Eastern Health and, if required, a work permit. Relocation assistance is available.

Dates:June 14, 2019
Hours of Work:35 Hours per week plus on call obligations
Remuneration:

Remuneration is by an Alternate Payment Plan shared by 3, 1.0 FTE positions.  Details of the APP and service provision can be provided upon request to qualified applicants.

Other Information:

Physicians are entitled to six weeks’ vacation per 1.0 FTE under the APP agreement.  On call beeper fees are paid according to the HCS 2017 MOA.
