Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA) invites applications from candidates interested in a locum or full time position as a Radiation Oncologist at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre at the Health Sciences Center. The successful candidate will join eight other Radiation Oncologists as a full time clinical equivalent and will be responsible for treating a variety of malignancies, inpatient and outpatient clinical consultation service, as well as on-call service which is shared equitability among the group.

ERHA provides services to St. John’s, as well as the Avalon, Bonavista and Burin Peninsulas. It is the largest health authority in Newfoundland and Labrador employing over 13,000 health care and support services professionals and serving regional population of more than 290,000. ERHA also offers unique provincial programs and services.

The Dr H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre is a fully equipped full-service cancer centre servicing the entire province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The clinic operates in a paperless environment using Varian Aria ® software, and is equipped with 4 (four) linear accelerators including a Truebeam ® STX unit with BrainLab ® treatment couch, two CT simulators and an HDR brachytherapy unit. The centre has active tumor boards for all major disease sites, and has well developed programs offering such services as VMAT, IGRT, prostate and gynecological HDR brachytherapy and SBRT. There is a PET scanner on site at the Health Sciences Centre. Planning is also underway to construct a satellite centre in Corner Brook, NL expected to be operational by 2020.

We are affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University and this position offers an opportunity to become involved with teaching and educational activities. We have an active clinical trials group that allows for participation in clinical studies and supports scholarly activity.


Applicants must hold a Medical Degree, an FRCPC in Radiation Oncology or equivalent, and be eligible for licensure in the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Salary is competitive and based on the MOU negotiated between the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association.

Employment will commence as soon as is reasonable after hiring. For those applicants interested in locum employment, the duration of the locum may be negotiated, but should not be less than six months.
