Description: | Seeking Pediatricians to provide on-call locum coverage. Dates are flexible and can be weekly, weekend, or a combination of both. The Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital is located at 67 Manitoba Drive, Clarenville, NL. It provides services to a catchment area of approximately 20,000 people.
The hospital has 41 acute care beds (including 2 palliative care beds), 44 long-term care beds and 9 ER beds. The long term care patients are located in the Dr. Albert O’Mahony Manor. This is a long term care facility that is attached to the hospital. There are 2 other facilities that are affiliated with the Clarenville Hospital and located in the town. Coish Place houses 3 Family Practitioners/Hospitalists and 2 Psychiatrist. The facility also offers various community support programs including dialysis. The Bungalow is a 10-bed protective care facility. Services to patients include: anesthesia, chemotherapy, family practice, general surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, ICU/Cardiac, internal medicine, laboratory, palliative care, pathology, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology, respiratory therapy, ultrasonography and 24-hour emergency (category A). Other services include nursing, nutritional, pharmacy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pastoral care, social work, diabetic education and speech language pathology. Visiting clinics include: neurology and ophthalmology. |
Qualifications: | Interested applicants must be eligible for full or provisional licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca) and meet the credentialing requirements of Eastern Health. Remuneration: | As per the Department of Health Guidelines, the daily rate for providing locum coverage as a specialist is $1225 for every 24 hour period worked and pro-rated for less than 24 hours. There is a daily meal allowance of $43.70 per day. If travelling in your personal vehicle, a mileage rate is paid to you. A vehicle rental can be provided upon request and the gas receipts will be reimbursed (no mileage will be paid). If traveling to the province, the most economical airline flights will be arranged (in consultation with you) and purchased by Eastern Health, along with the rental of a mid-size car. Gas receipts will be reimbursed. If you are not currently working full time elsewhere in NL or if you work outside the province of NL, you are eligible to be reimbursed for your CPSNL and CMPA fees. Submit your CPSNL receipt for locum licensure to be reimbursed for the time that you have worked in the Clarenville Hospital. Eastern Health does not reimburse the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA) fees. It is understood that you do not have to pay for this expense if you show proof of membership from your home province / state / country. If your CMPA fees increase in order to work in Clarenville or NL, you will be reimbursed the difference upon submission of your CMPA statement of account.
