Definition of work: Joined by a team of physicians and nurses to provide the required services at one of the Authority’s referral centres, the successful physician will be expected to provide the full scope of Obstetrics/Gynecology services which include [but are not limited to] inpatient consultation, emergency and on-call services, and outpatient clinics (inclusive of antenatal clinics, OB ultrasound, colposcopy and general gynecology clinics). The coverage of on-call commitments, including weekends and holidays, are shared appropriately amongst all Obstetricians/Gynecologists. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements. Responsibilities may also include opportunities to take on leadership opportunities within Central Health which could include, but is not limited to acting as Deputy Chief and/or Department Chief.


Required qualifications:
* Eligible for registration and licensure as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador
* Earned Medical Degree
* Satisfy the credentialing requirements of Central Health’s Discipline of Obstetrics/Gynecology
* Work experience is an asset
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority

Hours of Work:75 hours bi-weekly plus on-call obligations

Salary: $263,672 - $285,596 or Fee-for-Service (as per the Memorandum of Agreement and Department of Health MCP Billing)

Potential for additional compensation for work in leadership role within Central Health.

* Relocation expenses up to the amount of $40,000 will be reimbursed for a 2 year RIS. Relocation expenses up to the amount of $20,000 will be reimbursed for a 1 year RIS.
* Salaried Retention Bonus: $8000 after 1 year, $16,000 after 2 years, $24,000 after 3 years.
* Fully Licenses Physicians are potentially eligible for a signing bonus of $60,000
* Study Leave: A salaried Physician taking study leave is entitled to 10 days of study leave per year. Physicians who do not take study leave in year 1 or 2 would be entitled to 60 days of study leave in year 3.
* Annual Leave: 20 days annual leave.
* Sick Leave: Calculated by multiplying the number of months of service by 1 to a maximum of 240 days in total.
* Employer-sponsor RRSP: Physicians are required to contribute to the group RRSP as part of the membership with NLMA, the group RRSP is facilitated by MD Management.
* Group Insurance: All full-time, active employees, including part-time employees who work 50% of the regular work week, are required to participate in the group insurance program from their first day of employment.

Location of Work: Primary location of work will be James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander, NL. Physician may also be required to provide services out of the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL from time to time.
