Eastern Health and the Division of Pediatric Intensive Care at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. John’s Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada is seeking expressions of interest for a Pediatric Intensivist.

The Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre is a 71 bed, tertiary care referral hospital for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides care to all critically ill children across the Province and is highly active in teaching and education (both didactic and through simulation). It has an active Pediatric Residency Program affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland.

The critical care unit consists of 4-6 PICU beds and is located in the hospital’s main campus with intensivists providing 24/7 coverage. The PICU has approximately 200 admissions/year supported by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of residents, respiratory therapists, social workers and dietitians.

A myriad of opportunities exist for outreach education, pediatric simulation, residency and undergraduate education as well as research.


To be considered candidates must hold a medical degree, certification by the Royal College Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Pediatrics and Royal College Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (or equivalent) and have considerable experience as a Pediatric Intensivist. All applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador. Experience with and interest in quality assurance projects is a desired asset.

Salary and benefits for this position are to be paid in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador.
