Eastern Health invites expressions of interest for a General Practitioner Radiation Oncology (GPO) – LOCUM within the Cancer Care Program of Eastern Health for a 6 -12-month period beginning April 2022, with the possibility of extension to full time permanent employment.

Eastern Health is the largest integrated health organization in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). It employs over 13,000 employees, provides services to a regional population of more than 300,000 and is responsible for provincial tertiary health services.

The Physician will work primarily in the outpatient cancer clinic and be responsible for medical management of patients on the Radiation Oncology inpatient service. Hours of work are normally 0800-1700 but may vary according to patient care needs.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Effective management of inpatients on the Radiation Oncology Service.

• Attending Radiation Oncology clinics for assessment and management of patients receiving radiation therapy (Drop-In Radiation Clinic) and follow up.

• Attend to unscheduled radiation oncology patients that present to the Radiation Oncology Assessment Clinic or emergency room.

• Attend the Ambulatory Oncology Smoking Cessation clinic as a health care provider.

• Participate in the Cancer Care Program committees and quality improvement initiatives and well as attending Department, Divisional and Medical Staff Meetings.

• There may be an opportunity for participation in post-graduate medical teaching and responding to requests from other members of the hospital staff to provide education if clinical duties are met.


Eligible candidates must be able to obtain and maintain license to practice with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Dates:April 2022 - Locum - 6-12 months

Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried locum physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador.
