Experience:

The Anesthesiologist will function as a key member of the surgical team, responsible for the provision of anesthetic services to surgical patients in an acute care center with approximately 20 patients daily. Direct involvement in the care of the patients. Direct involvement in the care of the patient pre- and post-operatively, assuming responsibility for pre-admission anesthesia clinics as well as post-operative pain management. The applicant will be expected to administer epidurals to labor and delivery patients and to work an on-call schedule of 1 in 4, including holidays and weekends. The applicant must be willing to work in a team-based, client-focused care environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and-family-centered-care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Skills required:

Medical Degree with specialist training in Anesthesiology.

Eligible for registration and license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador

Type of work:  Temporary Full-Time, intermittent work on an as need/ ad hoc basis. This is a locum position.

Hours of work: 75 hours bi-weekly-plus on-call obligations

Salary:  $1225 per day for 56 days, then 1057.78 per day or Fee-for-Service (as per the Memorandum of Agreement and Department of Health MCP Billing)

Benefits: Some (not all) expenses related to travel, accommodations, locum licensing fees, meals and malpractice insurance will be paid for by the health authority, as agreed upon by all parties.
