The Medicine Program of Eastern Health has an immediate opening for one fee for service Hepatologist to join the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The successful candidate will participate in the provision of Hepatology care for the province. The individual will be responsible for in and outpatient hepatology services including seeing new patients, provision of Fibroscan, as well as follow-up on existing patients including patients with liver transplants. This position is hospital based with the possibility of outside clinics. Participation in endoscopy provision is available for a candidate with appropriate endoscopy training. The successful candidate will participate in an equal share of on-call.

The Health Sciences Centre is a tertiary care hospital that receives referrals from the entire province. It is affiliated with Memorial University and is the primary training center for medical students and residents. Opportunities exist for an appointment with Memorial University Faculty of Medicine.



All candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador and meet credentials criteria for Eastern Regional Health Authority. Fellowship training in Hepatology is required and applicants must be qualified or eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
