The Child and Women’s Health (Child) Program at Eastern Health invites expressions of interest from those interested in either a full-time position, locum position and/or ongoing shifts as a Clinical Associate in the Division of Surgery at the Janeway Children’s Health & Rehabilitation Centre. The Janeway is the only tertiary care children’s hospital in NL and is located in the easterly capital, St. John’s. It is also a teaching hospital affiliated with Memorial University of NL and its Medical School. 

The Clinical Associate will work closely with teams from Surgical Specialties including Pediatric Surgery (General & Thoracic), Urology, Plastics and Neurosurgery and will be responsible to the Division Head of Surgery – Child Health. Under such supervision, providing surgical assistance in the operating room; surgical consultations, including Emergency; and ward coverage including admissions will be among the position’s responsibilities. Attendance at rounds and providing in-house call (nights and weekends) is also required.



As the Clinical Associate, you may have a background in Family Medicine and may even be a community Family Physician with an interest to work periodic shifts at the Janeway or you may have a specialist background. Previous surgical experience is preferred but not necessary, however all candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Remuneration will be paid in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for locum or salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador.
