The Labrador Health Centre has 25 beds, a 24-hour Emergency Department and Outpatient clinics, staffed by Family Physicians, a General Surgeon, an Anesthetist, an Obstetrician/Gynecologist, and a regional Psychiatrist. Services in this hospital include diagnostic imaging, laboratory, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, physiotherapy, oncology/chemotherapy, respiratory therapy, mental health and addiction, and Psychiatry. There are number of visiting specialists who provide services at the Labrador Health Centre on a regular basis.

Definition of work: The Anesthesiologist at the Labrador Health Centre is a key member of the surgical team, and is responsible for the provision of anesthetic services to surgical patients of the facility. The Physician is directly involved in the care of the patient pre and post- operatively, they assume responsibility for pre-admission anesthesia clinics as well as pain management post-operatively. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care. Patient and Worker safety at the Labrador Health Centre is a priority; as such, the successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to partner with all team members by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.


To be considered, candidates must be eligible for registration and licensure as an Anesthesiologist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador. Please visit the CPSNL website at for more details.

Dates:August 8, 2021 – December 8, 2021 Candidates interested in all or part of this period will be considered
Hours of Work:75 hours Bi-Weekly plus on-call obligations

Rate of pay is $1225 per day.
